Imagine how your life would be different if you simply told the truth. All the time. The truth about what you did or did not do; the truth about how you feel, what you think, what you need. Just imagine yourself at age 4 or 5, before you learned to lie because you thought being real was not good enough.

Just imagine how different your life would be if you just made that one change in your life? How would your friendships be different; what about your love life? Most relationships die through lack of truth from the beginning. No more pretending. No more stress caused by lack of self-respect. No more wishing and waiting, hoping that the other will guess what you want or need. Just being yourself. Telling the truth in job interviews, knowing that the right job for you can only happen if you show up as yourself. The same thing for relationships, from day one.

Does being honest and real cause other challenges? Yes. For sure. It requires that the people involved be capable of communicating as adults. Because it's not always easy to be in real relationships. It's just so much more satisfying in the long term.
